What, Then What & Now What

Rom 10:1-4 NASB

(1)  Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.
(2)  For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.

(3)  For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

(4)  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Many people are religious but ignorant of the truth.  Paul, when he was Saul had a zeal for God but was ignorant of the truth.  He did not realize that truth until he met Jesus on the Damascus road.  Do we see people today who are so covered up with service to the point they are not serving God?  This is what Paul is talking about we see people who are convinced they are serving God.  Look at Paul/Saul he was so sure he was serving God by killing Christians.  The Bible says he laid waste to the church.   If fact, he was on his way to Damascus to kill a bunch of Christians in God’s name when he met Jesus.
Matthew chapter 7 verses 21-23 tell us that not everyone who cries Lord will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.  He goes on to say, that many will say they have prophesied and cast out devils and God will say to them depart from me.  Many people are seeking righteousness.  When they realize that only God is righteous, they do one of two things.

1.      They attempt to do good deeds within their selves to earn being righteous or justify their self.

2.      They believe in Jesus and righteousness is imputed toward them.
God doesn’t want us to serve Him to get in.  He wants us to serve Him because we are in.

THE WHAT – when we realize we serve because we are saved.  What we do for God is totally motived from love.

The THEN WHAT & NOW WHAT-  Come back next week
