Why Not Get A Supreme (Lesson 2)

Jesus brings order to chaos and restoration to brokenness.  He is SUPREME in our lives.

Colossians 1:11-14 NASB  (11)  strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously  (12)  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.  (13)  For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,  (14)  in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

In Christ we are redeemed, changed, and made heirs to God.  Paul wanted us to know that Christ is supreme.  Knowing that Christ is supreme should change how we approach things in our everyday lives.  We do not need to lean on anything else.

We are redeemed.  Jesus sets us free from captivity to sin by paying our ransom.

We are changed.  Jesus sets our lives on a different course, or direction.

We are heirs.  Jesus qualifies us to receive an inheritance as a child of God.

NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL SUPREME

Why Not Get A Supreme (Lesson 1)

Jesus brings order to chaos and restoration to brokenness.  He is SUPREME in our lives.

Colossians 1:9-10 KJV
(9) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
(10)  That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

In Christ, we can know God’s will for us.  Paul wrote this from prison as an encouragement to the church.  Paul wanted believers to be complete.  Paul wanted the church to receive wisdom from God to live holy lives.

It is one thing to have knowledge of God.  It is another thing to allow that knowledge to lead us into holy living.  Paul asked, what is God’s will for our lives?

God wants us to live a life that honors and pleases the Lord, do good deeds and continually get to know HIM better and better.

God is Supreme and wants a relationship with you.

Rejoicing We Will Go (Bonus Lesson)

The WHY, HOW, & WHEN of Rejoicing

Matthew 25:21 NASB "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.'

Biblical Joy differs from Happiness in cause and duration.

Happiness is situational: A good phone call can cause it and a bad one can take it away.

Joy is possible when the situation is difficult.  I am reminded of the widow who gave the two mites.  She did not have material things and she gave all she had.  Her joy came from a spiritual fountain that only Jesus gives.

Happiness is temporal; there is pleasure in sin for a season.

Joy is eternal and comes when we have the right relationship with
JESUS CHRIST.

Rejoicing We Will Go (Lesson Three The When)

The WHY, HOW, & WHEN of Rejoicing

Philippians 4:10-14 NASB  (10)  But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity.  (11)  Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.  (12)  I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.  (13)  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.  (14)  Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction.

Rejoice regardless of the circumstances.  Paul had learned how to be content.  Can we be content and be working to improve our circumstances?  We certainly can.  Working to improve circumstances and living in God’s will are not exclusive to one another.  If that were not true, no one would attend school or get an education.

Paul had the best education that was available.  God used that education as Paul submitted to His.  We are to search first, for what is the will of God.  If it is God’s will you can do it and …

You can Rejoice as you go no matter the situation.
