Do It With E’s (Lesson Three)

This is the third lesson of a four part series that is designed to show us that God’s Wisdom has power to transform our lives.

We can do this with E’s and this week’s E is Express

1Kings 10:8-9 NASB

(8)  "How blessed are your men, how blessed are these your servants who stand before you continually and hear your wisdom.
(9)  "Blessed be the LORD your God who delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel; because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness."

Solomon had made it a point in his life to reign with wisdom.  He treated the people with love and respect.  He asked God for wisdom and that wisdom showed.

When we express God’s wisdom, God is praised.  The joy of the people reveals God’s wisdom in the heart.  The old saying goes, “It sticks out all over us worse than any place else”.

The Queen of Sheba could see it.  Wise Leadership causes people to bless God.  The Queen of Sheba praised God.

We can do it with E’s when we take time to express God’s wisdom.

Do It With E’s (Lesson Two)

This is the second lesson of a four part series that is designed to show us that God’s Wisdom has power to transform our lives.

We can do this with E’s and this week’s E is Exhibit

1Ki 10:4-7 KJV
(4)  And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built,
(5)  And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.
(6)  And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.
(7)  Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

When we exhibit God’s wisdom people are amazed.  People will marvel at God’s provisions.  The Queen of Sheba noticed Solomon’s servants and where here they were seated.  She noticed how they were dressed.  Most of all she noticed how Solomon treated them.

How we treat others tells a lot about who you are.  People will have their doubts erased.  The queen of Sheba had her doubts and she had to see for herself.  We have a duty to show others how we live.

We can do it with E’s when we take time to exhibit God’s wisdom.

Do It With E’s (Lesson One)

This is the first lesson of a four part series that is designed to show us that God’s Wisdom has power to transform our lives.

We can do this with E’s and this week’s E is Exercise

1Ki 10:1-3 NASB
(1)  Now when the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to test him with difficult questions.
(2)  So she came to Jerusalem with a very large retinue, with camels carrying spices and very much gold and precious stones. When she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about all that was in her heart.
(3)  Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was hidden from the king which he did not explain to her.

When we exercise God’s wisdom, He is exalted.  However, we need to remember the world will test God’s wisdom in us.  This is what the queen of Sheba did she came to test Solomon.

We experience the same thing today.  People want to believe that nothing works.  This way they do not have to be concerned with how they live.

Deep down inside they know if there really is a God who can change them then they are accountable to Him.  So, just as Solomon had to answer the hard questions we can expect to be tested with hard questions too.

Let’s look at what Peter says;

1Peter 3:15  but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

Some will open their hearts when wisdom is shown.  The Queen of Sheba shared her deepest thoughts.

What type of person does someone open up to?  Someone that will keep their trust.  People will learn when wisdom is shared.  Solomon took his time and told her everything.

We can do it with E’s when we take time to exercise God’s wisdom.

A Day to Celebrate Freedom

John 8:28-32 NASB
(28)  So Jesus said, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.
(29)  "And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him."
(30)  As He spoke these things, many came to believe in Him.
(31)  So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
(32)  and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

Today is July 4th, 2013.  Two hundred and thirty-seven years ago, our nation was formed as a free country.  It is certainly wonderful to have the freedoms and opportunities that we enjoy.

One is not truly free unless they know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.  In him, we are free from the bondage of sin.  We are no longer a slave to sin and trying to get out from under the weight it has on our lives.

We call today Independence Day and celebrate freedom.  I would enter that when we come to know Christ we celebrate Dependence Day.  Because we can do nothing without him who died for us.

We are dependent on Him because we are His.  We have been bought with a price.  If we are going to be His disciples we must realize that freedom comes with service.

We are His bond-servant but His yoke is easy and His burdens are light.
