Then What? Now What?

Rom 10:5-13 NASB

(5)  For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.

(6)  But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: "DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, 'WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?' (that is, to bring Christ down),

(7)  or 'WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)."

(8)  But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,

(9)  that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

(10)  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

(11)  For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."

(12)  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;

(13)  for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

 From last week’s lesson we see the WHAT is serving God because we are saved.  How do we get this?  What does it entail?  First Paul lets us know that we cannot earn it.  Living by the law is a life of works and if one tries to justify their self by the law they must keep the entire law.

 How do we get this salvation?  We cannot go into heaven to get it.  We cannot swim the deepest seas.  So from this it seems like it is unobtainable.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Paul tells us in verse 8 that the Word is near us even in our mouth.  Verses 9-10 tell us exactly how to be saved.  It is simple confess with your mouth that He is Lord and Believe with your heart.

 It does not end here.  Paul gives us assurance that this is what it takes to be saved.  Verse 11 tells us whoever believes will not be disappointed.  Verse 13 tells us whoever will call on His name will be saved.

I can say with all certainty that salvation is for everyone.  If you are reading this blog and you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you can ask Him now to come into your heart and believe that he will.

Confess to Him that you know you are a sinner and believe with all your heart.

Once you know we serve because we are saved the THEN WHAT is doing something about.

My hope and pray is that you now know Jesus Christ as your savior.  If you are already a Christian my prayer for you is that you grow in Jesus realizing your full potential to be a servant of God.

Comeback NEXT WEEK FOR THE NOW WHAT.
